A pair of antique French Anduze Vases

A pair of Anduze vases perfect for planting or as a decorative piece. Over the centuries, authentic Anduze pots have become treasured garden antiques, admired around the world for their exceptional craftsmanship, timeless proportions, and rich history. Those that have survived the passage of time now display a beautiful natural patina that only generations of use and weathering can create. Here we have a pair of Boisset Anduze vases that show a different period in time as can be seen in the patina to both decorative antique vases. In the late 18th century, a new family of master potters emerged in Anduze. Louis Étienne Boisset learned his craft under the guidance of his uncle Gautier, whose workshop was among the most renowned in the region. During the early 19th century, the Boisset family expanded its influence and became one of the leading producers of Anduze pottery, eventually taking over the historic Gautier workshop and helping to establish the enduring reputation of the Anduze vase.

The iconic Anduze pot originated in the Cévennes mountains of southern France, specifically in the historic town of Anduze, nestled at the foot of the Cévennes range. Traditionally handcrafted in terracotta and finished with distinctive glazes, these elegant vases were originally created to house orange and lemon trees in the grand homes and estates of the French aristocracy.

We have two Boisset Anduze vases from France of the same height at 86cms. They can go as a pair as priced, or individually. Both in excellent condition, one of the floor standing vase is slightly older than the other, but equally attractive.

These Anduze vases have been beautifully made with light hues of browns, greens and yellows with the iconic decorative garland around its sizable body.
