A Pair of Large Green Glazed Biot Jars

A very rare pair of green glazed, floor standing Biot jars from Southern France. Biot jars, so named, originated from Biot in Southern France, (as did Castlenaundary  from Castlenaundary and Anduze from Anduze; all from the South of France). These terracotta biot jars were mostly made with a yellow glazed rim, so these are much rarer. Biots were traditionally used as a storage pot, renowned for its bulbous, chunky body.  A delight to decorate the home, garden or conservatory.
