This is a very fine example of a Swiss Black Forest carved bench but cast in iron. Supported by standing bears on haunches, this bench has been beautifully and skilfully painted in a mixture of browns, blacks and hints of green, cream and red, to give depth and lustre to this garden seat. This is a total one off bench. Seat height 48cms.

The Swiss Black Forest wood carvings arose during the early 1800’s and growing until the turn of the 20^th century from Switzerland. Their carvings often illustrated bears and other forest animals.
