French Antique Biot Jar
Very distinctive antique French biot Jar with the iconic bulbous body and tan coloured glazing to the neck. Fabulous ageing to achieve layers of patina. These delightful earthenware jars were first manufactured in Southern France and skills were passed down the generations, the oldest one being recorded in 1550. These jars or antique pots were used for several purposes, to hold olive oil, flour, or other general food storage. These were always created to be solid and a very good thickness. This antique biot boasts a wonderful tan and brown colourings to blend into any setting. In excellent condition, a wonderfully decorative vase for your home.
