Jean-Michel Frank Outdoor Jardiniere

Jean-Michel Frank (1895 – 1941) was a French interior designer known for minimalist interiors whose work became widely known in the 1930’s, when his work was very much ‘in vogue’ with high class society. His work is known for being associated with the Art Deco movement and today he is deemed an inspiration to many leading designers. Much of his work is highly sought after. Sadly, his life was short lived, having committed suicide aged 46. Prior to that he received one of his most illustrious commissions – to design Nelson Rockefeller’s New York Apartment.

This outdoor garden planter is a typical and iconic example of his jardiniere design and outdoor living style. Standing sturdily on four iron legs, and clasping the zinc planter above, the forged metal details of the entwining and the slim twig like design supporting the planter, is synonymous with his minimalism in design.  In excellent condition.
