Stamped antique yellow Biot

Super, stocky partly glazed yellow antique French Biot (traditionally called a Jarre de Biot), with markers stamps on the neck. These antique Biot markers stamps were often used to identify the master potter, the recipient’s name or indeed a merchant, so that they could be identified and retrieved. On this Biot we can see up to five stamps signifying this pot would have travelled overseas at least five times.
