Yellow Glazed Antique French Biot Jar

An antique French Biot with yellow glaze around the neck and internally. This large, traditional terracotta storage jar originated from the village of Biot, in the Alpes-Maritimes region of southern France. These jars have been hand-thrown by potters since at least the 16th century and were originally used for storing olive oil, wine, or grains. With its distinctive wide belly and narrow neck, this thick-walled antique vase would be a beautiful decorative piece for the home.
