Anubis Garden Dog Statue

With its excellent weathering, this antique garden ornament or garden statue represents the ancient god Anubis. Interestingly, Egyptian representation of jackal gods became more well known when the Egyptian ancient art started to be published in the 1800’s. Even more so when in 1922 the tomb of Tutankhamun was found.

This wonderful representation of Anubis is the god protector of graves, the guide to the ancient underworld. This garden dog statue has the iconic pointed ears, strong, lean body and narrow jaw in a seated upright position.
